I care a bit but discussion of his claimed dementia, court cases, organising of his own assassination attempts, choice of decor in the White House etc etc seems pointless.

It's an inordinate amount of time on discussing things about him that we can't change or which don't affect us. I don't care whether his wall decorations are hand crafted gold leaf or from Temu. I'm starting to understand what they mean by TDS.

I don’t wish to cause offence, but I just looked at page 1 of the Gender thread and read your post.
20K posts and 3 years later and the posts in their are still debating the exact same issue.
Just expressing my opinion that in terms of what constitutes interest, one person’s meat is another’s poison.

Sure, but the attempt to override sex with gender in law in the UK affects 50% of the population, Trump's choice of decor doesn't.
I might well ask why there is so little interest in women's rights issues from 90% of the men on here but so much interest in Elon Musk's hand gestures. I don't think I've ever resurrected that thread when it's gone quiet btw but I don't usually let bs on there go unchallenged.
It does go round in circles a bit but so does the Trump thread, which is much more recent but likely has a higher posting rate about more trivial stuff.

I too don’t have any interest in Trump’s White House decor, but to think that what Trump does politically doesn’t affect everyone in Europe, let alone the UK, is extremely naive.

Looks like I've been foiled in my plot to deflect conversation about him by confessing this on my own easily ignorable thread.
Trial by jury, free speech, best prime minister, gender, the Greens, and other topics that would be shut down on the main site, are indeed odd threads to start on this forum. Or perhaps it was 'Favourite quotes' which triggered you?
