To be fair, it was registered in 2022, before Elon outed himself, so they might be able to claim ignorance or mitigation.

That said, if I'd been unaware of the connotations of that combination of letters and number before, I'd be changing my plate sharpish regardless of how much it might have cost me.

Could still be happy, and if not, I'd guess there will still be takers.

More likely it's just the initials and birth year of someone who wants to show us he/she can afford a very expensive private plate. I'm not sure many people know the 88 reference.

I think there's at least one Musk-loving Tesla owner on here - and I think I might've just spotted them in the wild.

Heading north up the A1 coming back from Newcastle the other day, we were overtaken by a Fashmobile with the single most on-the-nose personalised number plate you could possibly think of. Taking a pic was impractical, but the DVLA can confirm:

Mine are here, our kids have blue and black model Y

One of the big selling points of Tesla are the long range so if you are determined to go ev it's probably one of the best options if you're out in the US or Canadian sticks where there's less infrastructure. I think there's incentives for ev buyers too and recently big investment in the charging stations.

Apropos of nothing, whilst in Canada for the last two weeks we must have seen at least 4 cybertrucks, many Tesla, and ID4 and sundry other EVs. Canada seem to like EVs despite having long distances like the US.

I guess with all that open space there is at least less chance of them bumping into each other, automatically locking the doors, and incinerating the occupants.

Have you checked if SS18 is still available?

We all have our own private plates already, thanks :okay:

The Tesla's on the roads will mainly be historical. As with Europe, Edolf Musk has successfully tanked the company's sales there.
And with the orange dictator's recent tariffs, I can't see the situation imoroving.

Funny, Tesla had a strong month in June with their new model Y.

BEV now account for 1 in 4 new car sales.

Tesla we're always going to have strong competition from the likes of BYD and cheaper brands like the MG.

Wishful thinking from haters
