Or the 'NNNCANP Thread' (no news, no current affairs, no politics).

It's up to people how they use this, but I might be a poseur and slip in the odd bon mot with less fear of retribution from the gods. It would be nice if people could avoid personal insults or name-calling (or ad hominems, to use a good old English phrase).

Remember we all like bikes, and it's nice to be nice to each other from time to time.

Carry on. Or don't.

Jazz. The work of the devil. I suspect this headline isn't from 2025. It doesn't look like a tweet either, so I hope it passes the 'not news' test.

I'm a bit late to this but eff off you bastard it sounds like a good idea.
E is getting a new bike, with the idea of touring in the UK this year and possibly France next year.

France sounds like a spiffing idea. If you know anyone over there, perhaps you could drop in.

Perhaps it's the bucket thread for football, cars, life observations, other interests.

Somehow I'm missing the trivial annoyances and trivial intrigue threads. They are pretty much nullified on the main forum because there's politics in everything. Any appetite for those?

Chuck it all in here. Chaos might ensue. @Pinno718 will be delighted. Legos might be featured. Who knows? There's already a footyball thread, thank F, as I've stuck it on ignore.

Not sure this qualifies as banter but I remember there was a discussion on BR about sourdough and its health benefits vs processed bread. I went into my local independent bakery today to buy a sourdough loaf. Hadn't been in a while and found a loaf is now £7.75!! I wouldn't even expect to pay this in London.

To be fair, that's the kind of stuff they love over on the mothership... there's a lively thread about the price of cat food going on. Scandalous. Cat-astrophic, even.

Musical Weirdness:
In Australia years ago there was a TV series called The Money or the Gun and each week they gave a guest the music to Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven and they had to perform their rendition of it. Many had never heard the original so what they did was entirely their interpretation.

Worked well and they released a CD with the performances (I was given the CD years ago by an Australian). Many are actually really hood or maybe at worst "interesting ".

Youtube have a playlist of the tracks and maybe worth spending a bit of time running through the interpretations (easy to skip those very "not my taste"

nb the embedded video is hard to skip between tracks, the link is to a page where each track is individually listed.

So often cover versions are dull reproductions of the original but these are mostly nothing like Led Zeppelin's and are real individual interpretations.

You can throw insults at me when you think it was all a waste of time ... except this yhread is a "no insults" thread.

I know there is a post a pic of your cat thread which I have avoided, even though I do have a cat.

I know there are no real rules here (other than the 'be nice to each other' one I've suggested), but let's not just duplicate stuff from there but with foreign/rude words. I'll still be posting the more anodyne stuff like photos and cycling-related things there in the appropriate threads in the authorised lingua franca.

If you like that, you might like 'Rock Swings' by Paul Anka. Some of them really ought not to work, but thanks to the brilliance of the arrangements, they mostly do.

The only real interests I have are cycling, wine/food, hifi, poetry and arguing about Brexit with Stevo.
