At this time of year ( ie January) there is often a lot in the media about Vegan / Vegetarian lifestyles and the promotion of Veganuary.
Listening to various people debating the topic on the radio, it seems that for some people the driving factor is an aversion to what they see as animal cruelty in the farming/ food production process. Obviously, I am sure most of us share the aversion to cruelty to animals, although what amounts to cruelty is a subjective opinion.
It set me thinking that in Jewish amd Muslim faith there are khosher or halal processes which many would say involve the use of cruelty to animals ( I don't want to debate if they are cruel or not).
Are there active anti animal cruelty groups within the Jewish & Muslim communities that are campaigning against animal cruelty?
