I think the pro Gaza stance of the Green Party siphoned off some support too.

Burnham planning to sack Reeves, according to Sky News. Wouldn't be surprised if he had quite a clear out of ministers in order to attempt the perception of a clean break with Starmerism.

I think Reeves was doomed as soon as Starmer went. Although given her track record, probably should have happened in any event.

It's the same innate conservatism that infects just about any Labour government once in power, but with added presentational incompetence.

Looks like the Blue Labour faction is tending towards backing Darren Jones to stand against Burnham. He very capable, but still very young, and I think he'll bide his time and burnish his credentials as much as he can for the future.

Don't think there is any doubt Reeves will go. Likely to be Miliband, can't see it bring Streeting as some MP's apparently want.

I am in two minds. If there was to be a genuine leadership contest I am all for a proper process but as it looks to be a Burnham coronation it seems pointless. I suspect someone like Jones will not want to burn his matches on a pointless race and will wait for future opportunities
