Go on then, which is your favourite Larkin poem?

I could ask Google Gemini for an opinion, but I think his limericks are particularly fine, especially the ones in Latin.

Of little significance, other than it'll probably wind Farage up even more

Weren't they warning the Tories about the exact same things? And doesn't it amount to "warning" that spending too much or borrowing too much is bad, m'kay; and that depending on how you go about it, raising tax rates doesn't necessarily mean collecting more tax?

We're I to guess, I would guess that these truths would be written on the inside of toilet cubicle doors in the treasury by now, in those little clip frames that used to contain car finance adverts.

Quite possibly, but it is Labour who are in a position to do something about it. But probably won't, until a financial crisis forces their hand.

The media always drag out people who say that then drag out people to say the same amount being cut will make no difference.

It's pretty obvious he's just giving out some quick and easy policies whilst working on those take longer. It's pragmatic and good to see after years of policies being announced without being thought through and then being u-turned. The bigger policies will come and they seem to be trying to reinforce the message that change takes time which is a much needed dose of reality. Trying to please everyone immediately was the biggest failing of Starmer.

Good to see no-turns? Where are you looking?

If, as is frequently claimed, Reform's voters are all ex-Conservative Voters, is the collapse of support for Reform, as much a worry for Andy, as it is for Nigel?

Maybe, but let's say that some of the people who would vote for the white male Garage might not vote for Badenoch.

I think a possible interpretation of the data that fits that pattern is that the number of people intending to vote reform has not changed, but labour has got some voters back from LD, greens and undecided. That would put laboour ahead in percentage without reform losing vote voters.

I think it underscores how idiotic Starmer was chasing Reform votes, as it looks like Burnham is regaining Labour-alienated voters from the Greens and Lib Dems, without (yet) Burnham having done much other than fripperies and positive noises.

And it's going to expose Polanski as not-terribly-green without a coherent philosophy, I suspect.

It's going to
