If it unlocks the key to porn its popularity may soar.

I don't think laws are going to get that Draconian. If you're talking about actually breaking the law, then they already have a system in place for destroying a person's freedoms, - it's called prison. If you're an ordinary decent citizen then what's there to worry about? It strikes me that a lot of people think very highly of themselves if they think that the Government are so obsessed with them, tracking them, forensically accounting all of their movements and data!If you say or do anything wrong, the government in a press of a key, destroy your very existence.
We already have identification in the system NI, passport, driving license etc. There is no need to have a DID, which the government will be able to track every movement, every transaction you make.
Its sinister a government having that much ability to check on your day to day activities.
It already happens and has been for years.
Digital privacy is a myth unless you're completely off grid, which if you have any kind of internet connection, you aren't.
Ah... the sweet irony of someone who hammers a forum with Twitter posts getting their panties in a bunch over Digital ID and privacy.
I work with a guy who's similarly paranoid and relies on digital aids he thinks are helpful to his life, and we were having a chat about how I was wrong not to be massively arsed about this over lunch.
He didn't have much of a comeback when I pointed out his Fitbit.
I must have missed where I said that...
