Hence the ?

Yeah, I'm aware. But your question is binary and completely lacks the nuance the question requires.

Clearly I've not made that obvious enough for you.

Its a small step to full digital currency. We already have contactless payment via phones.

Once they have digital ID it will plug into phone technology seamlessly.

Then everything you buy, every where you go will be data mined and used.

I'd rather not be tracked or monitored on my spending. We have privacy laws and they should not be eroded for government convenience/control

On that basis, I assume you never:

buy anything online
use a debit card
use a credit card
use any form of currency card
talk/post sense

Thats easy, I've never beat or hit my wife.

See its easy to be straightforward

So you can't give a simple yes or no, you have to qualify it.

In the same way being in favour of DID is not always a simple yes or no.

I do, that information is not routinely sent or accessible by the government.

It is.

You're deluding yourself if you think otherwise.

F*ck it, I'll play your stupid game.

I think Digital ID is a wonderful idea, because I know that we all have a digital footprint, whether we like it or not.

You are being paranoid about a non issue.

If you do have something to hide, be sensible and get a burner. And good luck to you how you acquire one that's not traceable.

It may not be at present, but, who knows?
There is the rub.

Any government should not have carte blanche access to everyone's daily lives.

Lefties governments are famous for wanting control, oversight of the masses.

I believe now after the disastrous announcement and catastrophic Labour conference, the whole idea will be quietly dropped.

If Reform spank Labour next year in the locals, it will be tossed in the dustbin

I've voted: thanks but no thanks.

While it's undisputed there are thousands of arrests every year, the number of people in jail for social media posts likely isn't anywhere close to her figure. Still, it would be nice if somebody kept track.

A recent article on some of the arrests makes for alarming reading: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/09/03/the-victims-of-britains-free-speech-crackdown/

Whether or not you end up in jail, the process is the punishment.
