Posh kids had them.
I had a pair, so not only posh types. Quality footwear imo.
Talking about Green Flash on the Green thread. What could be better?

C'mon. The posh kids had Sambas. As a slight diversion, I upgraded from Green Flash to Vans in 1979 (I wanted them in 1976) and to Nike Hi-Tops in 1980. Looonnnggg before Jordan.

Just accept that you were posh, and they were really posh.
My first 'fancy' pair were Ambler Flash, guess c.1978. I guess thaat the parents must have saved up to get me Green Flash subsequently, or saved up the Green Shield Stamps...
Well done. Excellent use of my nudge to introduce Green Shield stamps to the conversation.
I am surprised that I still have a functioning tongue after all the licking of those blocks of seventies stampettes. Filling book after book just to get a cheap “gift”.
It’s great how such a simple thing could become a national pastime.
I guess that the mis-selling of endowment mortgages to that (my) generation is probably small beer compared with the before/after generations. And wearing flares. And having the choice between Blue Peter and Magpie based solely on parents' prejudices.
See, it wasn't all sunshine and roses.
I'm old enough to have had an endowment mortgage that paid out with profit.

They were all the rage when I was starting mortgages but I wouldn't touch one as they seemed to me to be flawed (which turns out they were and I made good choice for the right reasons ... ).I'm old enough to have had an endowment mortgage that paid out with profit.
