Obviously it’s time for some more market manipulation and more insider trading by the orange orangutan 🦧
(Ignoring the manipulation aspects) I find it quite interesting how naive "the Markets" are. Rest of World has long appreciated that when Trūmp posts on Truth Social, content is far from "truth" and nobody believes a word except "the Markets" who seem completely convinced without evidence and contrary to all past history.

And these "Markets" seem to hold vast amounts of our wealth, our pension funds, etc. yet they can't learn from experience, can't appreciate even recent history, etc. To me, "not fit for purpose" and not serving us well.

(And not ignoring the manipulation) Then add how easily they allow themselves to be manipulated in the blatant interests of a select group ... if they were a business they would have gone bust long ago.

Beggars belief the world is so dependent on this dysfunctional body.

And just like that we have reports of US bombings this morning.

It’s apparently classed as self defence, so not in breach of the ceasefire!

My post this morning was referencing the bombings. Apologies for not making it clearer.
"Self defence." Bollocks!

Arnold Palmer

"What a beautiful man...",

He's displayed misogyny on so many levels and if the allegations about him regarding the sexual assaults are true (that, I have no doubt), he also displays no actual desire or interest in women other than for sexual gratification. They are simply vessels or trophy's to him.

How many cabinet members are women? (2 out of 23 in 2 areas where he probably sees no value - education and small businesses). Obama: 18 women over the course of two terms, Biden 12.
Only in America can someone so corrupt, so nefarious so egocentric, so narcissistic, so misogynistic, so severely lacking in empathy and morality put on a veneer that allows them to become POTUS.
It's crazy how a felonious @rsehole like Trump can get to the top. Al Capone is President - despite the financial irregularities.

"No more foreign wars... we're going to bomb the sh1t out of them..." [spoken on the same campaign trail?!]

Looking forward to the day he publicly and on live TV blurts out some heinous crime of the past due to his cognitive decline. Watch Fox News go into overdrive on the cover up/excuse bollox. Should be fun.

Soz, rant over. I'm going off on a pedal but i'll add a post which quoted the FT's investigation on the progress of the Board of peace:

TBH I can't believe that any of the countries that paid in really expected the money to be used for stated purposes and it was entirely an attempt to gain favour or as an extortion pay off. Not sure UAE will be happy that, having paid it, they've ended up directly affected by Trump's ego inspired war with Iran though.

"Serves them right" would be my carefully considered and mature opinion.

I thought at the time that the quote about shooting someone on 5th Avenue and getting away with it was just hyperbole, but actually now, I think he'd genuinely pull it off. It is utterly extraordinary how an ignorant, demented old man has either corrupted or cowed the US to this extent.

USA seems to be in the grips of a national break down or coma. Total scandal fatigue. Even in the most glitzy Hollywood thrillers the FBI would have rocked up at the Whitehouse by now and arrested the fucker.

Makes me wonder if increased corruption could be another discouragement on investment in the US. In several other countries with high levels of corruption many companies reduce investment or even completely disinvest. If there is a risk that some of your investment will end-up in the pockets of corrupt officials then a disincentive. Add that regimes will be changing in the US in only a few years when decisions based on corruption can be cancelled eg environmental protection laws cancelled to allow something can be re-legislated in a couple of years and investment. become worthless.

Apart from taking the amounts of money directly from those who would have benefited there may be less and longer term impacts.

I agree, how can you invest in a country where the rule of law is being eroded? I'd want a hefty premium to put my 50p into that market.

More vengeance?
US justice department reportedly opens criminal inquiry into Trump accuser E Jean Carroll
The Trump administration has opened a criminal investigation into E Jean Carroll, the writer who accused the president of sexual assault, according to news reports.

Prosecutors, the New York Times and CNN reported on Wednesday, are looking into whether Carroll, 82, committed perjury in a 2022 deposition during her civil lawsuits against Trump, in which she said she did not accept outside financial support for her legal battles.
