About how the press lost the plot in their flawed attempt not to take sides. I suppose the question we –and they – need to ask is at what point modern media, had they been based in Germany, would have stopped reporting Hitler as a normal politician and taken (effectively) a moral stance to oppose him... before or after he started invading countries and/or gassing Jews?

I think that's being unreasonably kind to the media, much of the US media seems to have actively supported / enabled him rather than just treating him as "partisan".
