Constitution? What Constitution?

This was always the end game, to bypass Congress.

First they came for the budget. Then they came for the judiciary. Then they came for elections. And it didn't matter if anyone spoke out, because no-one had any absolute rights any more.

FWIW, while I'm playing around with Copilot this evening, I asked it if America is a fascist state. I'd suggest that in the light of what's happening right now, the position of competitive elections, freedom of speech, and checks and balances are under direct assault. The other reasons for caution seem to be clutching at straws.

Stephen Colbert called out Paramount's kowtowing to Trump's threats, and they promptly cancelled his show from 2026 because of 'financial reasons' (yeah, right). Trump's getting all the national media into line where he wants them. Meidas Touch have already offered him a place in their line-up.

They're shooting themselves in the foot as one commentator put it:

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, just got an Emmy nomination & its ratings are through the roof, it's the only late night show to have improved its ratings in the first quarter in the coveted 18 - 49 group. So, if it isn't the ratings & it isn't the quality, I think we know what it is.

Too many organisations bending the knee and there are plenty of examples of organisations not bending the knee.
Law firms who haven't (bent the knee) have taken on corporate contracts from large companies such as MacDonalds because in the corporate eye, yielding to political pressure is viewed as weak.

Because he put that stuff out himself?

The thing I don’t get about the Client List nonsense is that there will be loads of people from the previous administration who know what is on the list, if it exists.

So it will be impossible to cover up. All they can do is attempt to undermine anyone who says anything.

Dems kept it hidden as Clinton is in there, Republicans want it kept hidden as Trump is in there. Just two examples.
Too many powerful people are implicated for it to come out, though it should and will be most interesting to an outsider if it does.

Hopefully age will catch up with him pretty quickly. Looking at how he walks, I am pretty sure he is on the verge of needing help getting up and down from chairs. If he starts needing time off, the vultures will circle. This is the curse of all sesond term presidents, but I think a weak strong man is particularly susceptible to losing control. I think it could shift quite quickly once it starts.

I watch Stephen Colbert and he's consistently top notch. His show has just been nominated for an Emmy this week so not a quality issue, or ratings (as you mentioned) and not financial as his show would be charging top Dollar for ad space.

He has been a vicious critic of Trump for many years and was highly critical of Paramount's payout (bribe) to Trump so we all know what this is about. I believe it may be part of the deal that Paramount reached with the Mango Mussolini.

Jon Stewart is on the same channel (Paramount but Comedy Central) and he's more vocal about Trump than Colbert. I fear he's next. Then John Oliver who could lose his US citizenship as well.

This is not beyond impossible.
