tl;dr Trump wants more powers to be king, basically to be able to sack any regulators who don't bend the knee, and is asking the SC to oderturn well-established legal precedent that builds on the Constitution. This is a strong counter-argument.

I think they are daring the SC to ignore their combined (and well-argued) reasoning: point by point, the SC would have to explain why the reasoning didn't have merit. That said, they obviously had few qualms about overturning 'settled law' in their Roe v. Wade case, so there's no saying they won't do that here too. But I think that's why they've put this detailed argument for all to see.
