Palantir's an utterly terrifying US spy tech company - which recently bought control of NHS England's data for half a billion quid.

Protection of my medical records is one of the things I have major concerns about (and do what I can but it's a challenge).

I'm happy for NHS to use my record for analysis of service provision, etc. (ie not directly related to my treatment). I'm happy for academic researchers to have my medical records for academic public funded research where results are put in the public domain.

What I'm not happy about is where my records are use by "for profit" corporations where the research results are used to develop the profits.

I have taken part in several clinical trials, mostly long term studies and I've given some access to my full medical records. But I've also withdrawn from some where the body holding the records has proven "unreliable" in passing data to 3rd parties contrary to their undertakings.

I see that the orange Mussolini is now interfering with a foreign sovereign state's judicial affairs.
Strange actions from someone elected to put America first and have nothing to do with foreign affairs.

Yay. More concentration camps for the Wrong People, we should build one!

Hope you're never a Wrong Person, Andy.

I suppose having alligators to tear human beings to shreds will save a lot over gas chamber infrastructure and supplies. That'll make the shareholders happy.

Another case of Starmer proposing unfunded spending. When other parties do it Starmer/Reeves/Labour really lay into them for "unfunded spending" but when Labour do it we're supposed to consider it responsible. Hypocrisy.

Ian

When you’ve allowed yourself to be cornered into ruling out all the main ways to raise tax revenue pretty much any new spending will be unfunded. Even Boris realised he’d have to increase NI to fund increased health spending (although that was obviously reversed in the run up to the GE and it was talked about as though it was some policy a previous radical left-wing government had brought in).
