Elon won't take this lightly as those subsidy/grant budget cuts will affect him. One commentator suggested that Musk should chuck money at a few centrist Republicans, after all, it would only take 4 Reps to cross the floor and the Bill is dead.
I think Trump would go into complete meltdown. Please watch the video I posted. Trump's ramblings are sure signs of cognitive decline: "Dear Mr Japan...". (on the subject of Tariffs) and Uranium being very heavy and difficult to move...

I had already watched it. Imo Trump is now at the same cognitive level that Biden was at, only more dangerous.

I could have done with a version without the tedious presenter who seems to think he needs to quote trumps words really slowly before playing a clip of trump saying words.

On the whole I prefer printed reports: nine times out of ten, as with TEDx talks, or Easter eggs, it's not very much but with lots of fancy packaging to try to make it seem consequential, and in TV news it's mostly The Day Today of clichéd style over substance.

It's a different sort of decline, I'd suggest - Biden was just getting old-man doddery and forgetful, whereas Trump is increasingly delusional, with his brain just making up stuff to feed his ego, which is dangerous when the only person on the planet he really cares about is himself.

I think the most telling recent clip of Trump was when he was getting on that helicopter and saying "they don't know what the f*ck they're doing" and being incredibly aggressive. It reminded me of my grandad in later years when his mental decline often translated into anger.

I thought the anger with Israel (and Iran) showed a glimmer of rational thought peeping out through the miasma of delusional egotism.

It's the combination of still being able to utter words mostly normally (if we forget the ones that don't) but nonsensical/delusional thoughts swirling around in his head that come out through his mouth... it's quite different from Biden's slowing down and generalised loss of speech clarity/speed.

Seeing his words written down is illuminating. I defy anyone to read this and think that he's not some way along the line... he just can't kep those thoughts in order, and stuff just pops out whenever it fancies.

Here's just a fairly random snippet - this is October 2024

I said, where are you building the biggest ones? He said, in Mexico. We’re building giant plants, the biggest plants anywhere in the world. In Mexico, I said, so you mean they’re going to make cars cheaply, they have advantages over labor and other things, and they’re going to sell them into the United States, and they’re going to put Michigan out of business? Is that what? I don’t know anything about that. All I do is build the plants. If you want to see a plant, we’ll go to Mexico. I’ll show you the biggest plant in the world. That was nine months ago.

I saw him, and I talked about it all the time, because I think it’s a serious threat to our country, because not only autos, but other things. So then I see him two days ago, I was talking at another club, very nice club, and like this, except, I don’t know, I think you people are probably even wealthier, okay?

This was in Detroit, okay, which was appropriate, and I was talking, I was showing him all sorts of charts about how their car, you know, it’s just gone down, it’s like terrible. And I saw him, and I said, oh, how are you doing, how have you been? I said, could I ask you, how are those plants that you mentioned, those giant plants that you’re building in Mexico, how is that coming along, have you finished them? No, sir, they abandoned the project when they heard you’re running.

Maybe not the "kiss and make-up" some commentators had been expecting, not the "de-escalation" to find a way back together.
Musk vows to unseat lawmakers who support Trump’s one big beautiful bill
“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” he wrote on his social media platform, X.

A few hours later he added that if “insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day”.
