I'm more surprised the out of court settlement didn't prevent Newsmaxx continuing to state they stand by their claims.
Possibly 1st amendment rights?
Having been found by the judge that there was "clear and convincing evidence"that the claims were false and defamatory, I would guess that if the claims continue Dominion would have at least a couple of options.
Having had two defamatory judgements against him in the E Jean Carroll case, that didn't stop the orange rapist making further claims about his victim. Unlike the man baby, she appears to have risen above it, knowing the truth was known to the public.

Nah, one side just always runs out of money first.

Did anyone hear Trump say that Russia ''owned and controlled 79%'' of one region of Ukraine, the Dombas, I think? Tenants occupying his properties will be surprised to know that they now own his properties under Trump's own laws of ownership.

I ♥️ The Gavin

Trolling Trump in Trump style which is upsetting the MAGA's on Fox news saying stuff like 'doesn't he have a wife and can't she tell him to grow up and do something useful?'. Bizarrely lacking any self-awareness and suffering innate hypocrisy. They do not understand the mocking and Google searches on G Newson (or 'Newscom' if you are an illiterate president), has gone up buy hundreds of percent.

But Trump has stopped posting in caps lock as much. AI analysis of his posts show inconsistencies: the AI has deduced that he writes about half of them.

I see that Trump has won his appeal against his $500m fine and had it reduced to “only” $355m.
Except in the meantime the accrued interest takes it above the $500m.
😂🤣😂🤣

I think you may have misread; the original fine was $355m, interest took it above $500m, but it's been thrown out completely!
He's still banned from serving as a company director or taking out loans from banks in the state for three years.

Eric's crowing about complete exoneration, which clearly isn't the case.
Today's decision was from the New York Supreme Court's Appellate Division. It may still be referred upwards to the New York Court of Appeals.
Strewth! How many levels of court are there in the US?

Ah, bugger. I’ll blame my fever. No, seriously, I currently have a raging fever.
Most annoying when I’m going on a cycling holiday next week.
Anyway, I’d still put my addled brain up against Trump’s.

I would assume that after having the case thrown out, banning him will also be rescinded.

Or given that he's President, the ban will expire whilst his sons run his commercial ventures.

Another political case collapses

Maybe I should clarify my earlier post. Only the fine has been thrown out, as being excessive. Trump's fraud liability was upheld, and the judges did not throw out other penalties that were not financial, such as disbarring Trump from company directorships. In a statement, the attorney general's office said the judges "affirmed the well-supported finding of the trial court: Donald Trump, his company, and two of his children are liable for fraud". It's quite possible that the New York Court of Appeals will reinstate the fine , but at a lesser amount - say $250m, for example.

Of course, Trump's tame Supreme Court may well take an interest, but this is not a federal case, and they could hardly expose themselves to further ridicule by claiming that massive fraud is committed as part of presidential duties. Or could they?
