Why are you trying to tell others where they need to respond to or not?

He's just asking a question> Is he allowed to ask a question?

He has the right to spout anything he likes. I am not denying that right.
I am not actually questioning CXRAndy, I am questioning those who try to engage with his nonsense. And it is nonsense. I learnt that you will not pin him down on anything and that the counter arguments (which are predominantly reasonable and where facts are used), will not yield anything.

He only serves as a reminder of a body politic in the US that are so adamant, so self righteous and who are fed on a diet of misinformation. The populist vote riding on a conveyor of lies and distortion. They are enslaved and are totally unaware of it. They lack emotional maturity. They seem to be incapable of critical thought and reflection. They are also deeply morally flawed and are blatantly hypocritical without being aware of it such is the pedestal they sit themselves on.

It's on a par with arguing with a teenager. When they cannot win the argument, they get personal.

Laughing at reason can refer to two main things: the literal act of ridiculing or mocking a logical argument, or a medical condition called pseudobulbar affect (PBA).

Alternatively he's doing it because he has lots of time on his hands and realises it's winding lots of people up / wasting their time trying to engage in rational debate and probably doesn't actually believe a word of what he types. He's probably busy in another guise on some site winding up MAGA or Reform types.

I often wondered that about Chasey.
Was he/is he using two forums to supply counter points? It would be a complete waste of time but would work.

You may note four points:

1. I always play the ball, not the man

2. In the case of CXRAndy, I don’t engage in his X feeds, for the simple reason, I do not. Follow/use X

3. IMHO it is better if this place is not an echo chamber, even if some of the dissenting is of dubious quality

4. There is more than one contributor who drones on about their pet subject(s). Deal with it.

Why are you lot still conversing with unreasonable/irrational. contrary MAGA sympathiser/closet fascist/Trump @sslicker bloke?!

Because it's funny, and also objectively interesting, sometimes both at the same time.

I sometimes worry a little that engaging with him for amusement/entertainment is a little cruel, considering his obvious disadvantage. But not enough to stop, despite what that might say about me.

The other perspective is that I find myself increasingly aware that a large proportion of people - potentially enough to elect a terrifyingly extremist government - have views & attitudes that are so vanishingly distant from my own that I cannot begin to comprehend their positions. I'm confident I know people who hold such views & have them within my extended family - but I'm unlikely to be having these conversations with those people, for reasons which are probably obvious.

But we have one right here. And from the safety & anonymity of his internet connection he feels free to spout relentless, baseless, unhinged garbage - and all of that is an insight into how people like him, like the ones who will hand Farage the keys to No.10, like the ones I know IRL - get their information, model their values & belief systems and end up feeling, thinking and voting the way they do.

There's no plan, no presumed consequence to my engagement with him - I want to understand, I suppose - and I find it in equal parts fascinating, depressing and disgusting to do so. I have no doubt it would be better for mental wellbeing if I didn't - but I'm self-aware enough to know that questionable impulse control has been a damaging behavioural trait of mine for a very, very long time.

Bet you wish you hadn't asked.

Seeing Trump on TV last few days and to me he looks like he's ages massively - not appearance more his movement, it seems laboured almost like he's having to push hard to get anywhere.

I can't think it's his focus on Israel/Gaza as that has been mostly done by others with him just briefly facing friendly reporters claiming credit for everything. Flights in the luxury of AirForce One hardly stressful so has me wondering. Maybe particularly as he's recently had his annual health check just 6 months after the last annual health check (White House had described doctor visit as ‘routine yearly checkup’ although president had annual physical in April).

Maybe I'm getting a bit too Conspiracy Theorist but it's just how laboured him movement seems to have been (though I've not been reading any other articles raising suspicions).

Dunno about that. There was another regular in Cakestop who hated me and Stevo and who used at least one sock puppet account to provide supporting arguments for himself. He got banned once he slipped up and inadvertently gave the game away. A similar thing appears to have happened in NCAP today but it's a lot, lot darker.

Simply put, everyone has their own opinions, that is fine.

World would be a very boring place if we all agreed with Brian

Yeah, there was one in the Brexit thread who did that. Can't remember the name.

Our resident troll has gone quiet since I asked him why he was trying to excuse grooming of a minor. Perhaps being sympathetic to a sex pest is a step too far under the bridge even for him.
