So far, the international response seems to be a mixture of mild rebuke and wait and see, fence sitting.

Quelle surprise.
I suppose we can be grateful Starmer hasn't (yet) jetted off to US to praise to Trump's face for "bold action" and "resolving issues", etc. kissing the ring and kneeling at the altar.

David Allen Green, a constitutional lawyer, sums it up pretty well - they didn't even have them taken away, they willingly gave them up. Future historians are going to wonder just how a lunatic failed reality-show host did this to a nation that thought it was the greatest nation on earth.

Farage is such a brown-nose

“Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said the "unorthodox" military operation by the US could prove a deterrent to future Russian and Chinese aggression.”

That 3rd quote from Starmer will evaporate into the ether.

(Context - I think any leader from any party would support the US narrative)

I suppose, for a change, he hasn't gone into hiding to avoid speaking to the press at all while he makes his mind up.

I'd be less worried if I didn't think that Trump/Miller/Musk are desperately trying to prise the UK away from a European consensus, in order to destabilise the EU and its relationships with its allies, and that Starmer is still pretending that the UK can navigate this in glorious isolation, with its wonderful new-found sovereignty.

This.
Starmer is responding ‘diplomatically’, who is there that would put the their head above the parapet in a way that we would like. Ed Davey and Zack Polanski are shouting from the sidelines, but it would be different if they were in the top job.
Badenoch? Anybody there…….

The trouble with that for Starmer is the UK will end up as piggy in the middle, and that's not where you want to be in the game.

I don't see any other way to make sense of this statement other than he's suggesting that the US would attack Russia or China and capture their presidents if they step out of line.

Anyone thinking that the Venezuelan opposition will be better than Maduro (and note I'm not saying Maduro is good) should watch this to get a measure of what the opposition are.

Ignore the channel name. There was an Irish team filming a documentary in Venezuela in April 2002, when a coup attempt against Chaves took place. The team had access to both sides during the events. The coup failed.
