The British SOSNI is the only one who can call that poll.

This feels a bit like saying it's the King that dissolves parliament. If the numbers are there you can have your border poll, but I know you don't want one, because you think it will cause problems. The alarming bit for me is that you are the most politically knowledgeable and moderate person I have come across from NI, and yet you still talk like this. NI needs to embrace its multicultural background and move forwards.

Now you can ridicule my naïve opinion.

Just 15 months ago seems like much longer. I suspect that The Hill would like us to forget it entirely.

There is still that hard core element who have been indoctrinated into hate and violence from the moment they can hold half a brick in their hand and wave a flag.
So, the issue is that Loyalist hard core element would revolt as they are hard wired on being in the Union. They will claim they 'fought' for years against the Catholic invasion and now the politicians are planning to piddle on them.
Until we are at least another generation away from the sectarian violence, the whole re-unification argument is a no-no unfortunately.
The hate population is dwindling in size but there is still violence which often goes unreported. I'm just across the water and know people in NI.

They also benefit from being in a more favourable customs arrangement with open borders and I just wonder how much incentive they would have for re-unification when they are already benefitting from closer ties to Eire and the EU.

Anyhoo, WSJ (who are increasingly anti-Trump*)

Trump Has Complained About Pam Bondi Repeatedly to Aides

Trump wants to lock up all of his adversaries and Pam won't do it.
Vengeful boy loosing his marbles and causing absolute chaos.

*One starts to wonder if the people who live in reality are seeking stability and will push back. Also, the push back is simply necessary actions to mitigate unworkable conditions.

For example: the stock markets don't need the instability that Trump brings. The US watched in real time the stock markets plunge when they made the announcement that Powell was going to be placed under investigation. (I think Trump thinks he'll keep the people happy by reducing the cost of living through interest rate cuts and the noise will go away).
Cuba in the face of an oil blockade, looks to Canada.
China looks to Canada for oil and Soya.
Europe responds to territorial threat immediately.
Key military individuals see that his Greenland plans are insane and try to steer him away from the idea.
In the background, despite Trumps ultimatums to Zelensky, the CIA have been providing support and intelligence to Ukraine throughout this administration.

More WSJ:
Washington's new lobbyists: Paid online influencers with few rules.

What is behind this is that as Trump doesn't read and watches online content and Fox news, he gets his ideas from these media sources. Young influencers are paid thousands of dollars by the Israeli's and there are people who are pushing the agenda's through the media outlets that Trump soaks up.
