Cycling yesterday and mind wandering a bit and ...If somebody pointed out to Trump that the Prime Meridian runs through the UK (London) not the US. That means that the position of everything in the US is measured relative to the UK. That Mar-a-Lago's position is defined in relation to London. Similarly the Equator doesn't touch US, that the position of everywhere in the US all specified relative to this very "non-US" reference.

If he can rename the Gulf of Mexico I'd love to see him try and make Latitude and Longitude US centric.

Am I the only one who reads Trump quotes in my head with his voice? It's not something that normally happens so I think it is just something to do with his odd use of words that automatically triggers that voice that sounds like he's been force fed downers.

There’s an interesting debate in the assembly today. The Welsh government want to make it illegal to lie during election campaigns. Apparently penalties for telling porkies are intended to be quite severe.

Of course assembly members are up in arms claiming…..you guessed it, it infringes upon their rights to free speech.

Imagine, the likes of Trump, Fartage and Bo Jo being strapped to a lie detector while making a speech!

Don't go giving him ideas!

It might catch Fatrage but the other 2 might just believe what they are saying is truth

Oh but he contradicts himself constantly.
I think it was Jimmy Kimmel who did a compilation video. Wish I had linked it.

Trump is so detached from reality. I watched an economist talking about how the BRIC states (Brazil, Russia, India, China, plus Indonesia, Chile(?) and SA) are adopting a digital platform for transactions to bypass the dollar. This process has been on the table for a while but Trumps instability is such that this is being expedited.
China has dumped $688bn in US bonds at a loss so that they are not tied to the dollar. When the dollar is no longer the yardstick for pricing and is no longer the world currency, the US is heavily demoted.
Trump holds a big meeting with the executors of the big oil companies who basically tell him that to extract Venezuelan oil will need $billions and about a decade to become workable. They're not willing to risk such investment in an unstable country. In the middle of this meeting, Trump gets up and wanders over to the window to tell everybody about the construction of his Epstein memorial ballroom.
So Trump hasn't got a clue, makes the US appear like an unstable rogue state, so governments and commerce proceed to mitigate this. The world is too transactionally complex for the king of bankruptcy to begin to understand. He hasn't got the capacity to employ the right people to give him the right advice. Hopefully, this will be his downfall. Meanwhile, if the world starts to operate under different mechanisms to which the US doesn't control or have any influence over, it won't be easy to reconcile. The damage domestically and internationally will have far reaching irreversible long term consequences.
I'd like to say 'you stupid f*cking Americans' but that is discrediting the other, more liberal population.

He is only going to use it to twist Canada's arm (as I understand it, the tar sands are qualitatively similar

In 7 years in North America I never heard a reference to GMT. Just Pacific standard time, mountain time, central time and eastern time.

So the meridian is a historical footnote already.

The equator is harder to change to be US centric, because it's not arbitrary like the meridian.

Besides if he acquires Colombia he'll have part of it. And if that's not possible, people in Kiribati should probably start to worry.

This might get interesting
Trump may have to disclose details about assets as part of BBC lawsuit
...
However, it is also understood that the way Trump has made his legal claim could also open him up to significant disclosures about his finances, businesses and property empire.

Trump’s lawyers argued the BBC had caused “direct harm to his professional and occupational interests, including, without limitation, the value of his brand, properties and businesses”.

The BBC is likely to use that claim to demand the release of sensitive details about Trump’s properties and business.
And as it would be release to a court maybe Trúmp might be constrained about how far he lies about it all.

I guess "disclosure" works both ways.

One person's truth is another's lie.

Also, can't remember if it was Kimmel or Stewart who pointed out that he is supporting protestors in Iran while approving the shooting of protestors in the US. Nuts.
