Oh dear, if Frank Gardner is bricking it and towing the appease Trump line, they really are in trouble. It can only be an internal decision not to say anything that can be used against them in any court case. The fact that one of the world's most revered media/news outlets seems to be compromised in such a way is very troubling.

Your timely reminder that the BBC has a 13-person board where decisions are made by a simple voting majority of one. Seven of the current board members were appointed by former PM & opportunist Trump-fluffer Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson - remember him?

Sir Kier Starmer has not seen fit to change this.

The stuff that they are turning out almost appears as if they have to feed it through a specialist app that turns illegal lunacy that's barely in English as we know it into reports supposedly analysing serious proposals by a respected sane politician.

Can this much-trumpeted Board of Peace actually deliver what it sets out to? That is, resolving conflicts, starting with Gaza.

That is what matters most here. It is tempting to dismiss today’s razzmatazz in Davos as just that, a bit of diplomatic showmanship and a display of Donald Trump’s extraordinary and controversial personal magnetism.

There are certainly reasons for scepticism. China, France and some other nations are not keen because they see it as a dangerous rival to the UN.

Britain is loathe to sit on a "Board of Peace" that has invited President Putin, who has shown no inclination to end his war against Ukraine short of that country’s capitulation.

Yet look at the cast list of who's signed up to it: some of the most important players in the Middle East: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt and Israel. These are countries with a vested interest in seeing a lasting peace in their region.

Many people were sceptical that Trump’s 20-point peace plan could end the Gaza war. And yet it did, albeit the claims to have brought enduring peace to the Middle East were absurdly premature.

So, ultimately, this "BoP" will need to be judged on the results it achieves and that, right now, is still anyone’s guess.

Thanks. I don't think that's any better. I'm not going to take a report seriously that doesn't even reference the probable corruption of the money going to a Trump account in Qatar and the obvious aspiration to neuter the UN.

If you had listened to FG on the radio over the last few days, he hasn't held back on Trump, so I think you are straw clutching to enhance your already tainted view.

As someone who doesn't watch or listen to news, I take printed stuff at face value.

Trumps 20 point plan:
1. Pulverise the people of Gaza until all are dead or displaced
2. Build a luxury resort instead.
3 - 20: Give profits to Trump

Point one appears to have succeeded.

Whether that can be defined as "successfully ending a war" or not...

The Palestinians were celebrating in the streets when dead young woman was being paraded from thr back of the truck after their fighters returned home.

Hamas started this war , got absolutely battered because of it.

They deserved it
