I just don't get the Democrats. Not at all.

Is this not a cynical attempt by the Dems to let the administration carry on provoking outrage in the run up to the mid terms? If they shut down ICE then every illegal immigrant sex offender becomes a poster boy for Noem and Vance and the axis of evil and a rallying call for their base.

As opposed to every iillegal immigrant sex offender person with non pink skin being right now a poster boy for Noem and Vance and the axis of evil and a rallying cry for every ignorant evil follower of theirs?

Who knows? I can understand the Republicans and their utterly shameful and shameless enabling of and cowering to Trump's smashing of pretty much everything that made America what it had become, but I can't understand the continued and ludicrous 'working across the aisle' of the Democrats while the Republicans enabled that.

Democrats are still 'playing nice'.
The fools. They think the old ways still apply.

I was only thinking that they don't really understand how adversarial systems work: that they need to present the the strongest opposition to proponents' positions until the process has played out completely. Too often the Dems seem to start OK, and then just roll over – a bit like the defence starting out by claiming their client is innocent, and then half way through a trial just saying to the prosecution "Yeah, you might be right that our client is a wrong 'un."

And yes, despite all the evidence to the contrary, they still seem to think that Republicans are going to play by the rules *this time*. The optimism is almost touching, albeit completely stupid.

Something tells me that denying access to a proven vaccine and waiting for the 'real world data' on disease and death is more than a little unethical. My guess is that they reckon that rich white people will get vaccinated anyway, so it's an efficient way to kill poor people with brown skin, and you get your data.

It's worse than statistics would likely show. Apart from measles itself it resets the immune system (immune amnesia) making the individual vulnerable to lots of other diseases they were previously immune to.

Research analysing child mortality in Denmark shows that you get as many deaths from measles caused immune amnesia as from measles itself and the immune suppression/amnesia lasts for 2-3 years following the measles infection.

So a fair number of deaths from non-measles infections will actually be caused by the patient having caught measles (but not attributed to or counted within the measles statistics).

I do wish everyone could just put Trump on ignore.

I was thinking earlier how is like an international version of our own forum pet troll. He does and says stupid stuff just to get himself attention and the best way to deal with it would be for everyone to simply ignore his unhinged comments. That said, as so many have a problem doing it with our own completely inconsequential version it is obviously not going to happen with someone whose utterances and actions unfortunately impact us all.

It hardly bears thinking about. You sort of hope that Americans wouldn't be stupid enough to follow JFK Jnr's lead, but then you remember that they voted for it. And even Democratic senators voted 'across the aisle' to confirm these dangerous loons, when all the evidence was out there to show that they were dangerous loons who were lying to the confirmation hearings.

Maybe one significant difference is that Trümp's behaviour significantly impacts us in terms of our security, our taxation and domestic policy, impressions of our leaders, impacts on countries we trade with and impact us, etc.

Makes Trůmp important and impacting whereas our own forum troll is just a rather dull irritant doing nothing beyond failing to spread conspiracy theories from others.
