I was thinking earlier how is like an international version of our own forum pet troll. He does and says stupid stuff just to get himself attention and the best way to deal with it would be for everyone to simply ignore his unhinged comments. That said, as so many have a problem doing it with our own completely inconsequential version it is obviously not going to happen with someone whose utterances and actions unfortunately impact us all.
Thinking further on this aspect, Trúmp is trying to achieve something, maybe daft, maybe ludicrous methods, maybe with questionable morals, etc. but eg his efforts to own Greenland has at least an excuse of getting something for US/Trǔmp Corp.

Whereas our local troll, anybody with just 2 working brain cells would realise that endless daft Twitter posts won't convert anybody and even if they started out thinking it would then either of those brain cells would have worked out that it isn't working and isn't going to. Thus local trolls only motive is to anoy, frustrate disrupt with no purpose - what does that say about somebody's character?

Its show you're easily triggered, overly emotional on subjects that you cant control at all.

Classic liberal leftie :okay:

I'd suggest one of these with a few on here

My thinking is Trump will either do what he wants (see Venezuela) or chicken out (various tariff threats etc.) and people trying to negotiate or reason with him seems to have little effect so it would be interesting to see what would happen if shoulders were just shrugged and he was basically ignored. I think it would drive him (even more) nuts but who knows what he would do then.

Complete guess from my part but wondering about his reasons for such a sudden "chicken out" on Greenland and why.... It was a pretty (significant chicken out)

I don't think it was Starmer's "back office words).
I wonder if combination of:
  • Markets dropping
  • Enough Republicans speaking out and talking of new constraining laws.
  • He would need Congress to approve the $$$$ amount were he to "buy" Greenland and with those objecting Republicans good chance Congress would have said "no" to the money (very big embarrassment for him).
  • Threats of counter measures from EU (which is a very significant market for US business)
  • Risk of Supreme Court saying tariffs are not lawful (maybe even inside tip-off given how many judges are Trũmp loyalists).
Maybe the risk of even more embarrassment in the future made him/his advisers choose the least bad option now (chicken out).

Not sure how the percentages would work out but pretty much, yup! That said, it is big enough of a step down and embarrassment that I'm not sure that it is over. Details of the deal will be interesting. The deal which has not yet been formalised, far less agreed.

Has he got the awareness to consider any of those? Maybe there is someone who actually has his ear who managed to get it through to him (probably by explaining he might not make any money out of it as mineral extraction is so challenging there).

Reminds me of Professor Leibstrum
(1st bit of video, different President but probably equally applicable)

Does anyone agree that Trump is paid opposition just the same as Farage?

Xipe Totec

Something nasty in the woodshed
I came to that conclusion this morning after the draft dodging coward dropped his latest lot of insults on the European military.

Wake me up when the orange cǔnt or our resident twát…..sorry troll says something vaguely sensible.

I do find it interesting he's got absolutely nothing to say about that.

Not a monosyllable.

Real fucking interesting.

Sadly I don't think Trump is anyway near as far down the dementia road as Brian and others hope he is.
He's just an evil twisted piece of turd, backed up by an even more evil barsteward in Vance.

But Vance was never had a big TV show so will not have the popular advantage that Trump had. The US has a lot of idiots who admire TV celebrities. (The UK is getting as bad).
