A very fair point. Apologies to all amphibians & amphibian-adjacent organisms worldwide.

I still wanna go, purely out of sheer curiosity.

You do all also realise that it will be film of the year, only for all the wrong reasons, don't you? 🤣

This may not go down well - but I'm really only posting it after finishing Wonder Man last night & being left with the urge to see Midnight Cowboy again, despite it being quite as bleak & gut-wrenchingly depressing as it is.

The first time I saw Midnight Cowboy was the edited TV version and I couldn't understand the fuss. Then I saw it properly and understood.

The weirdest TV edit I think I ever saw was American History X where they took out the "prison scene" rendering the rest of the film utterly pointless.

Mad Doug Biker

Just plodding along as always.
Besides, I want to see who the kind of people who would go and see the film are.

Are they curious like me? Political people?
Anti Immigrant Right Wing Loons?

🤷‍♂️

I am genuinely curious! 🤣

This won't be any consolation for Trump, but I still can't really wrap my head around the Hispanic disapproval still not being worse.

Although the black community hasn't been targeted, it's quite telling.

In my complete ignorance, is the difference because most black people know what racism looks like, but a proportion of Hispanics think that because they aren't actually black they will escape being targeted? (Apologies if this comes over as naive or just plan wrong... I'm just trying to square it in my head.)

Yes. A lot of "hispanic" people in the US consider themselves white in the US sense, and think that the US whites will consider them white too. Notice two high profile nutters such as Enrique Tarrio and Nick Fuentes.

I tread extremely carefully in matters racial, not only given my whiteness, but lack of experience. Even now south west England is very white (but changing at least slowly, thankfully), but when I was at Exeter University in the early 80's, there was, AFAIK, one black student out of 3000 full-timers. That's changed dramatically, but obviously more so than the general population of Devon.
