That would be Persia. 'Iran' is the one who destroyed the country's Persian heritage because it was considered unIslamic.

I hope these latest events do lead to regime change and the end of fundamentaist Islamic rule. God knows the Iranian people deserve it. Can't help but worry that it won't though and the long term result will be more repression.

I wonder which uninformed corner of the internet that came from. I saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I guess the same corner that called the atheist French phylosopelhers of the illustration "judeo christian".

Iran is the Persian name for Persia. Iran was always called Iran by the Iranians, Persia is a western name. The country was officially known as Persia until the mid 1930s, when the grandfather Pahlavi changed the official name to Iran. Nothing to do with the mullahs.

Iran didn’t kill JFK, didn’t employ Epstein, didn’t attack the USS Liberty, didn’t tell us Iraq had WMDs, didn't commit the Gaza genocide
Israel did.

Months or years of chaos ahead with no clear outcome.
At least 400,000 travellers impacted in 36 hours, oil prices about to jump on Monday with Hormuz closed.
Negative impact on global trade.

Whilst it might be positive that the Ayotollah is dead, the forthcoming chaos will be terrible.
And the US has such a strong track record of enabling regime change in the middle east .............................. not!

Yes, two of my nieces are of Iranian descent, just messaged my brother today, to confirm their relatives in Iran are safe (which they are), my brother, with his usual brevity summed up with "I doubt the Orange idiot has a plan for the future".
