I presume 80% of the vehicle will be made in the USA to get around the tariffs.

Still huge investment, that probably wouldn't have happened without tarrifs

I'm nailing my flag to this post, and it is depressing. Even for Eeyore. The troubles of 2026 are far from finished, and 2027 could well be worse.

"With the US-Israeli war with Iran waging on, the White House earlier announced that it will ask the US Congress to approve $1.5tn (£1.13tn) defence budget for the 2027 fiscal year - a record-breaking 42% increase from the year before."

There's some stuff going on at the heart of US government that feels like it's new, more serious, more dangerous than anything I've seen before. You have an unstable civilian sacking 20 generals. You have the president sacking a loyal Attorney General who was roasted by Congress. You have a government desperate to stop the ship of the Epstein Files leaking and revealing the world's worst criminal sex scandal. And they're in the midst of a war that they're not winning even if they may try to obliterate a country of 90 million people. There are rifts through the world's Christian community as the Evangelicals try to cold shoulder the Catholics and while a liberal Pope pours scorn on Trump and his pals. The old unanimity around Zionism and Israel is crumbling. The usual levers to demand loyalty aren't working. The corruption around insider deals are out there for all to see. Likewise the monsters in the Israeli Knesset and government reveal themselves every day. The old illusions about people in power being essentially good has evaporated.

I would agree with a lot of that. I think the last sentence is probably aimed at the US but the sentiment does not speak for all.

Perhaps we should cheer the notion that
The old unanimity around Zionism and Israel is crumbling.

If you want another perspective, this weeks the 'Elephant in the Room' podcast paints a picture of an incompetent Republican party and a Trump administration in turmoil. He unpicks all the corrupt individuals that make up Trumps cabinet and explains clearly why Trump chose these people. One could safely say that it's imploding through it's own inadequacy:

The sacking season

We are living in interesting times.

Who'd bet against us dying in them, too?
