I have no claims to be a military strategist, but, it seemed to me that the Iranian ploy was to "starve" the West of oil, thus, pushing up the price, thus annoying the West, and, making them, in turn annoyed with Donald. It would appear that the Iranians have planned and thought carefully about this, and, have amassed enough resources to allow them to outlast the West/US/Israeli side. It would seem reasonable to assume that the port outside of the Straits simply allows the Iranians to continue their strategy ie supply their "friends" and starve their enemies. In the interim, Donald has all of those very expensive toys floating around, each one with several hundred to a thousand Americans onboard. The Iranians may have "only" small fast attack craft, but, all it takes is one lucky break, and/or one moment of carelessness onboard one of Donald's expensive toys, and, there could be a big loss of American lives, which would not play well back home.
