Palestinian football chief says US denied him visa to attend World Cup
The head of the Palestinian Football Association has said he is unable to travel to the United States with other federation heads attending the 2026 Fifa World Cup because he has not been issued a visa.

Jibril Rajoub went to the opening match between Mexico and South Africa in Mexico City on Thursday. But he is among several people accredited to attend the World Cup who have been denied visas or have yet to receive them from the United States.
...

“Everyone will be welcome in Canada, Mexico and the United States for the Fifa World Cup next year. We are working exactly for that,” Fifa president, Gianni Infantino, said last year.

The United States, however, has refused entry to delegates from several countries, including a referee from Somalia and a photographer travelling with Iraq’s team.

Do you think they have confused Somalian Referee with Somalian Refugee. A friend was asking 🤔
They are all the same to them non-white = bad
Recently I'm finding it very disappointing how what I see as blatant racism seems to become so open, so obvious and the perpetrators even proud. And so few calling it out. I saw a bit of BBC 18:00 News the other day and all credit to the reporter in he was questioning the degree to which racism was underlying the Northern Ireland riots but otherwise worse than flimsy excuses.

I had been hoping Canada would have offered the Somalian Referee an "instant visa" and push FIFA to finding matches in Canada (or Mexico) for him to referee.

Indeed. For example, they have abandoned hundreds of Afghans who have served in the US forces in Qatar, while offering ’asylum‘ to nearly 5000 white South Africans.

Haha, up to 35,000 have been watching the livestream of the removal of Trump's name from the Kennedy Center. Not done yet... but the scaffolding is up...

Various shenanigans still going on to try to halt this, including the Trumpist board of the Kennedy Center threatening to halt all funding of the Center if manbaby Trump's name is removed. The judge for the case has already refused (yesterday) to grant an 'emergency' injunction. In the meantime, they are carrying on installing the scaffolding. I guess that the repair of the masonry where the Trump stuff was attached will require specialist attention, hence the scaffolding, unlike the installation using a cherry picker platform.
