There was a credible threat from Iran to Airforce One leaving Turkey yesterday, so Trump got on it and then straight off it into a catering unit the other side, leaving his staff and journalists to provide the continuing target for Iran.

I wonder if it's more about Trümp not wanting to admit he messed-up selecting contractor. I can't see him "defending" anything, generally the moment somebody with link to him needs "defending" Trūmp throws them under the nearest bus. Maybe he realises bad press about no competitive tender, under the table ..., etc.

Plus after his initial "it was vandalism" to now accept it was bad workmanship also means admitting he was previously wrong and Trümp never admits he was ever wrong on anything.

On the radio news this morning they were playing Trümp saying how he was putting himself in more danger through flying on the other aircraft, making out it was himself that was taking the risks not everybody else.

I really hope that one day people reading history books (if AI hasn't shredded the lot) will think that the character of Trump has been wildly exaggerated, because surely no-one could possible be as completely bonkers and self-centred as he really is.

To be fair to Trump, the FBI or whoever provides his protection would have made the decision to remove him from the plane, not trump.
Somewhat difficult to not obviously offload all the hangers on as well.
