I seriously wonder if there has ever been anyone quite so petty. All because he wants his name on a building.

In my opinion he is the extreme example of what happens later in life when a child is spoiled and the word "no" is not used often enough.

Yes but.
Coupled with the wealth to ensure he can hold others to ransom and has no fear of failure.
The people around him need to feed off his money.
If he had no money he would just be another strange man shouting at the clouds.

As I said, "the extreme example".

And (maybe for Gulf War thread), listening to Rest Is Politics (and heard the same elsewhere yesterday), looks like Trümp has in effect discarded another ally. Apparently when Houthis started attacking Saudi Arabia, the Saudis asked Trũmp for defensive help and Trũmp refused. So Saudi's previous close relationship with the US must now at best that they can't trust the US any longer.

No one will respond until November to anything he says online at 4 am.

If the GOP retain the Senate, people might take more notice. If they win both houses it will be chaos again.

If they lose both people will just say fůck off grandad for the next 2 years.

Had a weird thought re mid-term elections. I wonder if Trümp wants Republicans to lose. He'll blame them for losing and then he can blame the Democrats for blocking him sorting out all his wars. Basically, in his own mind, own ego he can blame everybody else for his mistakes.

If Republicans win then all the problems he's caused stay on him to sort out.

  1. Canada and the EU 'are not fair weather allies' - Carney

Carney says Canada and the EU have bonds "deeply rooted in our lands", and speaks about the shared history between Canada and Europe.
The Canadian prime minister lists off things he says were "carried back and forth across the Atlantic for centuries" - including seeds, values, ideas and trade.
Carney adds that Canada and the EU "are not fair weather allies, we do not pursue zero-sum deals".
He says both share the "same unwavering dedication" to the rule of law, human dignity, individual freedom and democracy.
He adds that a "strong economy is not an end in itself but a means to a just society".

Canada is the only country to have not agreed a trade deal with the UK following Brexit, so my suspicion is that they will struggle with the EU. It surprises me that they haven't decided to reopen talks on the UK trade deal.
