Point of order: he never loses the title of 'president'.

Maybe it's time to set a precedent.

I think the Starlink/Musk thing is the starkest example where governments will/should twig that outsourcing everything to tech bros with no government control is a surefire way to disaster, arguably much more risky than another King Trump.
I don't think UK politicians are even appreciating it let along acting. Still pushing for US AI software in US owned data centres on US hardware with the "Kill Switch" in the US but located in and polluting the UK - all so our politicians can clear their FOMO.

And still Government embraces Palantir (with their far-right chairman) - more critical systems owned by US, "Kill Switch" held by US (specifically US Techbros disagreeing with UK democratic governments). Not long since Sadiq Khan sensibly blocked the MET from adopting Palantir (so US would have the "Off switch" for some Met Policing systems. What if Thiel decides the UK should operate an insurance based health service ('cos some of his mates run health insurance companies) and suddenly the NHS loses it's FDP IT platform (like Ukraine lost Starshield on some whim of some US individual who wants them to lose a war to Russia).

etc.

All true. Reading Private Eye and about the reach that all these big tech companies have into all arms of government and parties is not comforting.

Surprises me that he has made it public that one of his "bright ideas" has been shot down.
He may as well have said "I proposed an idea but was told that I was stupid and to forget it".

In any case, I assume that his brain is inventing a lot of the things he tells us has happened... a dangerous mix of narcissism and senility. At the best of times our brains have a tendency to inflate our importance in our recollection of personal experiences (it's a recognised phenomenon of how memories change over time through successive recall), and in someone like Trump with so many abnormalities, it's amplified hugely.

My main point was him admitting it, publicly, when he could have just not mentioned it.
Admitting his own flaws is a very, very, rare occurrence.
