So the Democrats only need to point and say "We're still not Trump". They don't need policies as much as to not be as toxic as Trump.

I'm not sure that's true. It didn’t didn’t work for Biden.

Waiting to see what the democratic leadership do.

This isn't 2020. Trump, and by association, the GOP, have committed the cardinal sin of making people feel poorer. It'll be a very long time before the Republicans are forgiven for that.

Plus of course Trump in his first term was the epitome of sanity and stability compared to his second term. We don't know just what damage, economic or other, he'll do in these last two years. There's every chance that he'll manage to make the Republicans even less electable.

I hope you're right, but I will point you to what happened to Starmer here.

Just seen the Abdul El-Sayed clip.
He comes across as a complete pr!ck, a really, really poor look.

Suggestion is that they will try to impeach Hegseth rather than Trump

Although I'm seeing reports Trûmp is considering replacing Hegseth. Any Cabinet sackings Trûmp will have to do soon as once i stalled the Democrat majorities will be wanting concessions from Trûmp if he wants appointments confirmed. Probably same true for other appointments.

And re: Hegseth: also one needs to look at Hegseth's primary function - to be a scapegoat when so needed.

As is Rubio.

I wonder if in Ruiio's case getting sacked might help his aims for a Presidential run? Any Republican wanting to be the next Republican Presidential candidate has to break with Trúmp and MAGA and getting sacked allows him to spin along the lines of no longer being able to pursue the madness ....
Staying in post much longer would mean a much weaker position going for Republican Presidential candidate

If you are talking about his comments to JD Vance I thought he was brilliant, responding with humour rather than the not so thinly-veiled racist criticism of him by Vance and Trump.

It is worth remembering that these newly elected Congressfolk don't take their seats until January I believe, so still 2 months for Trump to wreak havoc if that is true.
But also only 2 months to sack somebody and get their replacement confirmed and with Christmas and New Year breaks reducing available time.

No, it's him being a tw@t and refusing to interact with the Sky News journo who is well respected in the US

The results show that Trump, and anything associated with Trump, are now thoroughly toxic. All the Democrats had to do, and all they did, was say "We're not Trump". Vance not merely is tainted by association with Trump, but also has the twin handicaps of being (a) useless and (b) a charisma vacuum. He's done: he doesn't inspire the same sort of (misplaced) loyalty Trump can. The MAGA vote's not going to coalesce around him: who else will?

And the rest of the Republicans, well they're just as tainted as Vance. Trump'll still be there during the next presidential campaign, casting a very long shadow over anything the Republicans do. So the Democrats only need to point and say "We're still not Trump". They don't need policies as much as to not be as toxic as Trump.

Vance has only been a vessel for Thiel to get access to the White House.
Recruited by him, paid by him. Manipulated by him. He comes over like an idiot bereft of charisma because he is an idiot bereft of character. Just another puppet.
