Many commentators saying it's an ego issue for Trump. He wants to be the President that added the largest land area to the US.

(Everybody here and everywhere pointed out that they already have treaties allowing them pretty much everything from a military/security perspective, that Denmark/Greenland are already talking to mining companies about mineral extraction, etc.)

That's as maybe but he has also said that he wants Canada too.
Look at the map. If he takes Greenland then Canada is surrounded* for all practical purposes. Taking Greenland first is a good military tactic.

*Cut off supplies via Hudson Bay, the St. Lawrence and Halifax etc in the east plus between Alaska and Oregon in the west.

A nuclear war would kill off that point of view.
Unthinkable is not impossible.

A nucelear war wouldn't necessarily cause irreparable harm to relations.

That was a strike, not a war where there was retaliation.

Erm, the Japanese were at war with USA, and many other countries. Pearl Harbour, battle of midway, Battle of Okinawa. Many others.

Oh plus two atomic bombs dropped on different Japanese cities days apart.

Boy you are smart. Can’t dispute it was a war as it was called World War 2.
Wasn’t a nuclear war though, as only one side had the capability.

Great idea. Let's do really complex foreign affairs by opinion polls asking really dumb questions with no context of what chain of events this might lead to.

I mean. FFS. Might as well ask if we should nuke the White House "to voice our displeasure in no uncertain terms".
