BBC is a bit weird sometimes. A quote from today from - Prisoner release row proving to be Burnham's first big test as PM

I don’t believe Badenoch forced any policy shifts. That all came from the Labour backbenches?

And the obvious answer if she uses early release as a line of attack is ‘we’ve got no choice as you didn’t build enough additional prison spaces over the 14 years you were in charge. We’ve already built more but haven’t had time to get enough yet’. It’s a very weak subject for her to try to go after.

It looks like the BBC 'news' was lifted almost directly from the Telegraph, and that was basically regurgitating Jenrick's own piece in the Telegraph. Looks like there's no let-up in the BBC rooting for Reform. At least the Telegraph headline admits that benefits would be "shaken up" (aka, slashed) rather than just a mild "overhaul" (that's good, right?)

Fair enough, The Telegraph can fluff whoever they want to, but as I've said before, the BBC shouldn't just be forwarding *any* party's PR pieces without at least a modicum of scepticism and comment, and headlines in particular should be suitably qualified by using words like 'claim' and the use of scare quotes.

I think it's extraordinary that Robbie Gibb is still on the board of the BBC. I can't help feeling that if he's not actually got his fingers on day-to-day decisions about how the news is framed, that BBC News is making sure they don't upset him.
