If BBC is getting criticism from the White House, they must be doing something right. ^_^

Guess you're talking about this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/c9wgq9vv51do

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt launched an attack on the BBC's coverage of reports that Israeli forces had killed Palestinians near an aid distribution centre in Gaza. She claimed that the BBC took down a story after reviewing footage.

The BBC has said the claim is completely wrong and that it stands by its journalism.

Ros Atkins from BBC Verify takes a look at the facts.

If the left complain it’s too right wing and the right complain it’s too left wing then it’s probably doing what it’s supposed to do, probably.

Given that the current encumbents in the White House don't have a great track record re: truth, I wonder if they are attacking the BBC is just for distraction. White House and US can't really consider a few BBC reports of great significance to the US but attack others and it becomes a distraction from something they are doing (or failing to do).

What lets the BBC down is not so much bias as timidity. I think it's the middle-management who are frightened of going out on a limb, upsetting the powers-that-be, incurring the wrath of the establishment. The actual journalists are mostly professional and committed.

Most journalists who have left the Beeb say the most exasperating thing is the constant pressure to give both sides of arguments equal weight.
It means that have to constantly be balanced and can’t offer a personal opinion.
