FWIW I agree with you. I also felt it was a little misleading. I'd have put the word "troubled" in there.

The headline is a quote from what has been said about him by family though. There's plenty to criticise the BBC about with the way they are travelling but this one feels pretty minimal, a comment on the nature of the person who died and a fact that he was attacked by the tiger. There's nothing incorrect or misleading. No-one seems bothered by headlines stating Ukraine has attacked Russian oil refineries even though they are doing so in response to Russian aggression. Likewise, the headline doesn't suggest the tiger was at fault for attacking the dead man.

I have a horrible feeling that they thought it sounded good. Rather than worried about what it meant.

I guess they are following the US model of turning everything into 'entertainment', whether that's politics, or court trials. Even so, this seems particularly ill-judged, using his fame to try to get people to tune in. I imagine that the women allegedly raped by him will be even more traumatised by seeing it marketed like this.

Good to know... according to Chris Mason on R4's Today, Farage has been determined "for years" to eliminate racists from Reform. Just a pity he seems to be getting more and more of them, I suppose. Can't think how that could have happened.

The words 'flies' and 'shoot' have unaccountably just popped into my mind...

And to a degree absolving the zoo from at least primary blame. I guess the inquest will decide if they took all reasonable steps. I would imagine the whole staff will be in significant shock, not least the tiger's handlers.
Another aspect to the tragic death.

I am glad the zoo has fairly quickly made statements that the animals will not be destroyed. But the fear of such makes working in an affected zoo challenging.

I have worked zookeeping (big cats in UK) and on occasions we had particularly sick animals (not big cats, not species I ever did more than occasional helping out with) and just the suspicion that vets would need to be called to "put to sleep" casts a terrible air over the zoo (keepers). And when it happens breaks are difficult, no chatting, dire mood, and you know it is the only humane way forward but at the same time just hate the idea of it happening.

Even when introducing tigers for breeding eg exchanges from other parks there is a risk not to general public but that tigers will "not get along".
