There's a significant chance that this particular awardee ends up like Aung San Suu Kyi. Suu Kyi received the Nobel peace prize in 1991, and was long a symbol of resistance to the military dictatorship in her country. However, her democratic attitude was severely lacking once she got into power.

Maduro's government is a disaster, but the opposition are horrible people who wouldn't be any better, if not worse. Think Milei on steroids.

This Camp David peace accord was negotiated under the mediation of US President Jimmy Carter. He was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for this groundbreaking peace deal, instead it went to Menachin Begin and Answar Sadat who were the respective leaders of Israel & Egypt.

Jimmy Carter I can imagine would not have wanted such an award being the sort of person who believed in serving his fellow man and putting others first

Of course he did get one later, in part "for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts."

Most undeserving winner was probably Henry Kissenger. It was co-awarded to Le Duc Tho, who had the grace to decline.
