We are getting past the stage where waiting for, or arguing over, fairness is going to get anything done.
Precisely. That's why any scheme needs to appear fair to the major players, otherwise it's likely to fail.

The major players, and I don't include us in that, will do what they think is right for them and not just whether we, as a very small player, does the same or more. They will look first at those in the top ten of global polluters, particularly those they see as their competitors. We still labour under this misapprehension of our importance to the rest of the world, especially post Brexit when we cannot even influence Europe.
Fairness is always important but it doesn't necessarily mean parity.

The fact that the newly-industrialised countries, often referred to as the South, are creating more pollution than us, does not make us ''small players'' because we are getting those countries to service our needs and desires. If we made our own white goods, our own phones and computers, we'd no longer be such small players. Though this would reduce the carbon burden of shipping the finished goods over to us. It's like the head is in the north and it's telling the mouth what to consume while blaming the South for the farts.

Statement of the bleedin' obvious. I wasn't even thinking of the UK.
There's a farm expedition planned to see this particular offering..
The fact that so much gammony froth has arisen on the back of it must mean it's worth a watch right??

The major players...
The major players will all be flipping pigeons by the end of the decade.
Yes, I know; I just fancied starting a post with the words "The major players" as it sounds quite grown up.
I'll be slipping the term "zero sum game" into a post shortly: keep your eyes peeled.
Image maintenance is hardly a zero-sum game.
Tell me more about this activity! Is it like cow-pushing? (Or badger-baiting? :-/ ) Is there coverage on "specialist" websites? The major players will all be flipping pigeons by the end of the decade.
