Predictably, Alison Rose will be able to afford plenty of beer to cry into over the loss of her job.

The message here is screw over Nige and win a prize and immediate pension. Anybody know if he needs a new chauffeur?

I would just like to thank Farage for breathing so much life into this thread.

When I started Time for a PEP talk I thought it might get 10 or 20 responses before disappearing through lack of interest.

But then along comes Nige.

What a guy.

You brought him up in your opening post...

...fair point, but I still didn't foresee the huge interest and ramifications.

Neither did Nat West.

Although the bank cocked up its own internal procedures, an independent review has found “the closure was lawful”.

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-67236693

The report said the communication of the closure with the former UKIP leader did not follow the bank's policies.
However, the report found the closure was lawful, and based mainly on commercial reasons.

'Major clearing bank didn't break the law'.

Well yippee, what a wonderful effort, give them some tax breaks as a reward.

Farage, predictably, says it's a whitewash.

Indeed, the report says the closure decision was partly based on the reputational damage the bank would suffer by having Farage as a customer, and partly based on the fact they were making no money out of him.

Probably no more to it than that.
