For one who prides himself on placing others on ignore you spend an inordinate amount of effort in wailing about others.

I guess it's the lefties snowflake mentality 😁

Or they join with the stated aim of posting what they want to. Because there's no-one who can delete what they post, nor is there anyone who can tell them off that they have to listen to.
It's an interesting aspect as Search Engines rating of pages/sites/authors is affected by references on other sites. So more links to a page on other sites the higher the page appears in eg Google search results. It;s why some SPAMmers add links to eg gambling sites on unrelated pages, not because forum/blog readers are going to click thos elinks but that the linked site gets higher prominence in search results.

So quote a trolls links to Twitter far right twitters and those X-nutters get higher prominence on Google/Bing search results.

I have a personal website and although it has nopthing to do with Google, their search system indexes it and check and it maintains collected data about sites linking to my site and individual pages on my site; I can even get a list of such links or summary stats eg excerpt from Google stats for my feeble little site

So quoting troll's far right drivel from X just helps those far right posters gain "credibility/ prominence in search engine results.

Another rather depressing aspect is how politicians have discovered an aspect of (western?) human nature in that the more a lie/fiction is repeated the more it becomes accepted and believed. So Troll repeating twaddle from Twitter and the more it gets quoted by others the more it gets repeated and thus the more some come to accept the drivel.

Well, that, plus the whole area of discussion turns to the subjects being peddled by the truth-twisters, drowning out useful discussion of other topics. Trump (and his mouthpieces) is the master of that, exploiting social media brilliantly, flooding the zone with so much shît that nothing else really gets attention.

Recently I have found the user ignore function to make matters considerably better. I did come close to it a few times in the past but resisted for a variety of reasons.
Whilst the function tidies up the visual litter, I do have concerns that new or potential users may be discouraged when they see some of the postings.

I agree it's good. But it doesn't filter out the quoting/replay posts some still seem to feel helps. OK you don't get troll's post but you do have to plough through the "That is untrue" (which everybody knows anyway so quite why people waste their and others' time replying does beggar belief).
