I think there are so many things in life worth spending time on and spending time thinking about trolls isn't one of them.

I find the phenomenon interesting, more because of how people react to trolls. I have little interest in the trolls themselves or their posts, as mostly they are fairly one-dimensional and boring.

The only interesting thing is how they hook people in to responding. It can sometimes be fun if they employ benign but clever madness, and one can't be sure if they are knowingly playing a humorous game with everyone.
