Twenty Years On

09:08 twenty years ago today I received a text message from a family member saying that they were safe, and not in harms way. They'd caught an earlier train that morning for some reason, they don't know why.

Unable to phone and check due to what was described later as network overload. Replied via a text, it'd get through when it got through.

Are there any on here that got caught up on the day.

I was in an office 5 mins from Aldgate when all the sirens and blue lights went past.

We had staff who were on the train but luckily sitting in a different carriage.

I remember walking 9 miles to get home as all public transport was down.

Me? I was in Poland driving steam locos.
The locals were largely ignorant of what had happened and I only really found out later.
