Coward of the county, be it Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton or them both as a duet has been reported as glorifying rape.

Sounds like we have the forum's answer to a particular Viz character

I completely understand why some might not find my jokes funny. Still struggling about the alleged promotion of violence towards women. I suppose if someone has the balls to own up to reporting it then we might be able to understand what's going on in their head. But that's unlikely.

Maybe, just maybe, you'd have a different outlook if you were a woman who'd been the subject of domestic violence.

Maybe, just maybe, you should learn to tell the difference between an obvious joke and a serious issue.

And there was no evidence that the totally fictional 6 men in the joke were part of the totally fictional victims household 😉

I wouldn't report that joke. But I would tell you to your face that I think it's crass, old fashioned, and more than anything it's lazy.

I'm fine with that.

Although if it was me I wouldn't bother to lecture the teller of a joke I found unfunny. There are plenty more jokes around.

No, I'd not have reported it either. I still like most of Les Dawson's stuff, as his humour was often a bit surreal and a lot of his comedy was clever, but that joke relies on outdated caricatures and finding humour in domestic violence. "But it's a joke!" doesn't negate the subject matter.

In your humble opinion...

I can, thanks. If you can't see why people for whom domestic violence might be a subject that they find poor taste for humour, maybe because they've been subject to it, then don't be surprised if not everyone finds your humour funny.

I never expected everyone to find it funny. Far from it, given some of the 'characters' on here.
