Ahh yes @Shep, I remember him well, A rigger for BT, if I recall, a real member of the Working Class 😂

Pity they aren't around any more. The leftietwat swarm really need more targets to take out their frustrations on.

Keep going, it's clearly working  I never had you in the ETL* category until now.

I hate to piss on your chips, but filling in time because of boredom is not the same thing.

Haha, I've got a timeout on the mothership till tomorrow. Can't even read why I've been banned, but if it's for French words/phrases that are in the Oxford English Dictionary, they are going to get a PM from me pointing out the error of their ways. Next they'll be banning Loon for his accent.
Have any of you heard Pat5mph speak?

She's Italian (and something to do with Cyprus I think. She told me years ago)... With the accent... So anything about accents would be highly ironic (as it is already with the language bit. It would only be more so if she was French or German! 😆)
You guys could always apply to be a moderator. It's unpaid, takes up a lot of time, and is clearly a thankless task, but it might offer the opportunity to guide the moderation policy in a the direction you feel it should go.
I once did on another forum years ago when they were looking for people and just got a polite reply back saying "Thanks, but no thanks".
It was boring forum anyway and I eventually drifted away.

Actually, I an 'Admin' on a Facebook group, but nothing much ever happens, so it's easy enough for me (I don't think I've ever even read the rules properly and the 'owner' is nowhere to be seen now, so I just use my judgement 😆).

CC is a big site and I'm not sure how many moderators there are. I think part of the problem is they just automatically deal harshly with anything that even slightly wanders into a grey area, if they spot it. I've certainly seen things I consider worse that MDB's jokes pass without action, so I suspect it's also down to whether someone reports it or not. It's easier to allow everything or delete/ban immediately than get into a discussion about what is and isn't within the regs. It's why this section was created really, to reduce the work of moderators.

Yeah, I think we have all seen posts where you go "wow, what?!" and yet, your post that is tame in comparison is deleted and so on.
There just isn't any consistency with it!

Anyway, regarding the Facebook group I admin for, I exagerrated slightly when I said I don't think I've read the rules. Of course I have, just not recently. It's all standard FB stuff anyway and can be read when needed.

The last time I had to take action was a few months ago (it's a quiet group) where someone just kept spamming us with A.I. bullshit videos.

They were on the subject, so not immediately obvious, several appeared before I noticed them.

I deleted them all, then waited to see if there was any response from the poster. There was none, but then more videos appeared, so I just deleted them and banned whoever or whatever it was.

Never heard a peep.

I'm admin of a few random FB groups (historic churches, lardy cake, wordnerds), and you soon spot the nutters, and they get a deletion and ban (it's always a newcomer who obviously is just spamming groups).

Most of the rest just need a bit of a quiet word and potty training, and they are fine. If there's a rule that's broken by a few people, I'll post a general reminder to the group as a whole.

These were on the subject, although not the subject of the actual page, if that makes sense and I must confess to not really paying as much attention as I should have at the time.

I had seen them on other related pages and seemed to be a bit 'Marmite', so I gave them the benefit of the doubt at first (waiting for a reply from the poster).

Had it been porn or something unrelated, fair enough, immediate ban, but they weren't.
They were just A.I. videos which, to be fair, would have been good had they got the facts right.
Besides, there were so many of them that it was starting to get annoying anyway.

As for individual posters, yes, I'll just sit back and watch but sooner or later they trip up...

I left one large community group as a mod as the owner was happy with the worst of Facebook. I can only assume as it made her money. With 20k members it needed tight rules which could be mercilessly enforced, and she wasn't interested.
