It's weird how feted Saturday Night Live is.
I sometimes watch it for the music bits but the sketches are usually pretty weak and often too long so I fast forward through them.

I've seen quite a few americans say the same thing! (I've never watched a whole one, so can't fully comment.)

They certainly do. The Simpson's 'The Big Book of British Smiles' stands out in my memory. They use it to scare Ralph into going to the dentist.

It has spawned a lot of funny performers over the years but I think it's status doesn't match up to the quality. Having seen Jack Black in Minecraft I can only say they must have had the autotune up to 11 in the movie because on SNL last week he was awful, really bad.

I did find this sketch pretty funny.

I agree. The perfect teeth thing is a privilege of the well off and really just a film and tv convention. Whenever I've been there it's obvious that ordinary Americans have various levels of teeth appearance, just like us. They were quite a few years ahead of us with cosmetic dentistry for the masses but it's still the preserve of the comfortably off. As it is here I suppose or 'Turkey teeth' wouldn't even be a thing.
