Why do so many people seem unable to accept the rules apply to them

I used 'Bonjour' (which is in the OED) and got told off for using a foreign language. As someone pointed out, even if it weren't in the OED, it didn't break the rules. I really can't be arsed arguing with people if they can't even follow their own rules. It's their site, so if that's how they want to police it, fine. But I'm not going to spend my time wondering if I use the word 'penchant' whether I'll be told off.

Have you considered that the definition of the rule may not be precise enough?

Doesn't matter as people have no right to post and moderators' decisions are final.

The rules are whatever the moderators say they are.

Don't like it, set up your own competing site with rules you do like.

The key point is, its down to the site owner

Mais oui.

No need to set up another site though, as the rules on this part are very easy to understand and follow. That said, I suspect that there are just as many children on this part of the site as there are on the main site.

I think most people understand that, but there is no rule that says you cannot disagree with some of the site's rules.

It is quite common for people to get frustrated when someone says "obey the rules", and you think you are, but they then punish you for breaking them. A lack of consistency is also common when you've got multiple moderators. I wouldn't worry too much though, it's not personal. No-one really has a right to say what they want on a forum owned by someone else. We essentially all guests and not paying for it

The rule that the moderator makes up the rules?

Its quite funny how those who break the rules in one place come to a different site to moan

Not surprising at all in that you're not allowed to question their wisdom there. As I've mentioned before, if you can't understand the infringement, then there's no learning involved: it's just a lottery if they are making things up as they go and not telling you what it is exactly you've done wrong.

I am amazed anyone has the time to micromoderate to the extent they do over there. I anticipate it is someone with a grey beard and a touring bike with a sensible triple chain set and panniers, and who spends their entire life left over from being mildly offended campaigning for active travel.

Not really, when the roolz on the mother ship don't allow open moans against moderation decisions. Afaiu there is no rule saying you cannot come on this site to moan about rules on that site.

Ooh look more personal attacks.
There is a pattern developing

Well at least they're on the right thread.
