That's what satire often does. Sadly, sometimes the 'normal world' goes so mad that it's hard to spot satire, but there were several giveaways here once you'd been drawn in.

It's probably just as well I'm not in academia, as I think my (in)tolerance in HE would be frowned upon these days, when everyone is a 'customer'. Though the smoking jacket, slippers and Meerschaum (with added pince nez) might get me a bit of leeway.

Another one where the prompter was either too lazy or too stupid. I genuinely can't see why people bother doing all this if they are going to use lots of prompts to get what they obviously had in mind in the first place.

About 20 years ago a teacher in France got the sack for sticking to his guns to take off an item of clothing each time his class got the wrong answer for the riddle "Je suis un femme mais je ne suis pas une femme". He ended up naked, which apparently even French teachers shouldn't do in front of their class.

The riddle relies on 'je suis' meaning either 'I follow' (from the verb 'suivre') or 'I am' (from 'être').

Sorry, that was a tyop on my part: both should have been 'une femme".

Your solution is correct, and the fact that a schoolroom full of French people didn't get it means you get double points from what a UK Eurovision contestant would get.

I find it interesting how it struggled with a basic typo and simply couldn't get it when I suggested my solution. It actually felt like posting on this forum as it continued to argue I was wrong.
