I think the 'Soastic Society' is a philosophical movement, but I'd have to check on Wikipedia. (Sorry.)
There were a few charities which used to use the blunt terms (Mencap, amongst others), but 'spastic' along with the one I mentioned were two of the most hateful distortions (along with 'mong', obviously) that meant the official terminology had to move, as humans can just be horrible. I guess that blind and deaf people (or 'people with little or no vision/hearing') have to get used to the nouns/adjectives for their differences, as they are so deeply embedded in normal language and usage.
