You can all stop worrying. It's not AI any more, it's SI (Super Intelligence).

Well it is according to the brilliant President of the US with the high IQ, and he should know.

Yesterday Nesnight had Liz Kendall on their "panel" and she was saying how crusical it is we have loads of Data Centres so we have access to the AI. Completely failing to recognise that those Data Centres would be owned by US companies, be running US software and the "Off switch" would be in the US under US control. We would be completely vulnerable to US whims and they could withdraw the moment we upset them eg want to start taxing them in the UK or US political "National Security" directives.

Like our vulnerability to Mastercard & Visa that the US could switch of should a country "upset" them (hence EU looking at starting a payments system/card not under US control) (the Digital euro project due to start trials 2027?).

We'd be just allowing the US to offshore their pollution to the UK. And politicians just can't understand that.

Australia not finding AI being the solution too many politicians are claiming

Maybe it's like communism or Brexit, that it only hasn't worked yet because "no-one's done it properly". Though I think 'doing it properly' involves ignoring the fact that it's shît at a lot of the things people ask it to do, and unreliable enough at others that it needs human experts to check its work.

Wednesday represents my third day of an employability course.

One of the companies offering employment is Accenture, who have a heavy emphasis on AI. To the point where they're asking people to write their CVs using it but editing the output where appropriate.

I'd rather chop my left leg off than use AI to write my CV.

Agreed.
However, apparently distance is an issue for speed and in the future AI will be competing against AI and every nanosecond will be crucial.

No, I do not think this is promising.

Are you surprised? For these people only their profits matter. What they seem to miss is that their profits depend on the general population being able to buy their wares. The way capitalism is going, there won't be enough consumers to sustain it for very long.

Not surprised at all, only that they are so open about it.

Are you still using log tables?

No, but I do know how to, and can still read/comprehend and do maths. Which means I can read all the studies that suggest that using AI extensively leaves learners cognitively impaired: obviously that doesn't worry the AI businesses that want humans to get hooked on AI and their subscription models to do their thinking for them.

Again, who is going to pay for all those subscriptions when there are no jobs left that pay beyond subsistence wages?
