They’ve now realised they’re hard to take seriously on early release due to their complete failure to build the previously promised prison places when in Government. Their response is that they will definitely build 50,000 new places if we give them another chance (they’re a different Party these days*) and they’ll all be built with 6-7 years. They’re going to bring in new laws to ensure planning gets sorted and apparently prisons can built in a year. They seem to have forgotten the design part completely and think you just turn up with a giant LEGO kit.

* How many Tory MPs are there in Parliament now that weren’t there before 2024?

50,000 is a lot in terms of cost and planning, but is not a lot in terms of capacity required.
Even worse is to be paid for by cutting overseas aid. Which will drive increased immigration.

A few, but on the flip side, most of the ones in charge are now in Reform so arguably they *are* different. Not better though. Otherwise Badenoch wouldn't be in charge.

Well, we'd never have guessed she had a high opinion of herself.

Tories demand cuts to welfare bill, except earners over £100k who can have free childcare. 🤡

...and the triple lock which I'm sure she was against before the changes were proposed. (But after the 2024 election obs).
Cannot be seen to agree with a labour proposal.

There are valid arguments around the >£100k marginal tax rates, even when made by Dan Neidle. There are some apparently insane consequences once childcare is taken into account.

There's humour, humour, then there's this Tory re-imagining of the Bayeux 'Tapestry', which is supposedly going to be 88ft long, for the party conference. People often inadvertently tell us who they really are through the sort of things they think are funny/clever.

That’s rats leaving a sinking ship and everyone getting the plague and dying because all the brown people who worked in the NHS left in a boat to escape from Kimi Jong Un.

The cats where horrified.

That's got to be it, because not even the Tories would show all immigrants to be black, and liken them to rats, as that racist trope is waaay too obvious, right?

I think they are seriously under appreciating how many people value environmental protection, clean rivers / beaches etc. with their pledge to scrap the EA and Natural England, do away with BNG, cut planning oversight and so on. I’m not sure many voters want that, I’m as pro-development as anyone and even I think it’s ridiculously dangerous but someone with a bit of money obviously has the ear of the Shadow Chancellor.
