Isn't this back to the heart of why many in Scotland demand independence?

Could be, I don't live in Scotland, and, don't claim to be Scots. My point really was that the only "X" that counts is the one on the Ballot Paper, opinion polls are not the same thing.

I wasn't disagreeing with that principle; just noting that something close (either way) to about half of Scottish people want can never given them what they want, since Westminster has claimed the right to decide.

If putting an X on a ballot paper for any party can not produce the fundamental thing you want, I'm questioning the legitimacy of that kind of democracy I suppose.
